Safety

The most important thing in extreme sports such as BMX, skateboarding and inline skating is safety. Here's some advice about safety for each of the sports:

Skateboarding
It is very important to wear helmet if you are a beginner. Kneepads and elbowpads would help too. When you are a bit used to the skateboard and you are sure that you won't fall as often, you should decide wether you're going to be a vert skater (like Tony Hawk), street skater (like Rodney Mullen) or "all around" which means that you skateboard on the street and on a halfpipe. If you're going to be a vert skater, you MUST wear helmet, kneepads etc. because it's much more dangerous. Most of the street skaters dont wear any safety gear because it might be easier to do some of the tricks without it.
It is also recommended to wear proper shoes. The most popular brands are: "Etnies", "Emerica", "DC", "Adio" and etc.

If you fall of your skateboard, try to "run it out", just run and try not to fall. If you cannot do that, try to "roll it out" and just roll on the ground to reduce the strenght of the hit. If you can't do this either, just fall on your butt. You might hurt your backbone but atleast you wont break anything. Don't ever strech out your hands when falling because you probably will break you hands.

BMX
Safety gear is quite similar for each of these sports and there's no exception for BMX. But in BMX, you have to wear helmet with no exceptions. There are different types of helmets but this is the most popular these days:

It is recommended to wear gloves as well because it gives you a better grip with your bike and you wont scratch your hands off the ground if you fall.

Inline Skating
Same as BMX and skateboarding you're recommended to wear helmet, knee pads, elbow pads and etc.

General Safety Tips
Never try to "bite more than you can chew". Never try a trick you know you cannot complete and you can hurt yourself.
Do not skate/skateboard or cycle on the road. If you're doing a trick and a car is coming, you might not have enough time to move and the car might not have enough time to stop it the driver might not see you.
If you get hurt badly, try not to move. Shout for help if there's no-one with you. If no-one comes and if you have a mobile phone, ring your parents or the ambulance if you're sure your bone(s) is/are broken. If you don't have a phone, keep shouting for help and if no-one hears you. Try to crawl to your house or to the nearest house and ask for help. But if you are "in the middle of nowhere" just dont move and wait till someone comes.
